Head Fake - Overjoyed
Head Fake is Michael Baker and James Cole – this is their third turn on the show, and the Melbourne alternative outfit opens us up this week with a track they first released in 2020 and later reworked with Dub Fu Masters in 2021 – myself, I dig the original version found on the EP2 release – I really dig these guys.
The Radio Makers - Lucky Stars
The Radio Makers are a four-piece alternative pop-rock band from Bristol, England, and ‘Lucky Stars’ is the deep-cut title track from the band’s 2023 album of the same name. There’s a lot to like about the album, so make sure you check it out.

Racing - Out of the Night
Racing is an indie rock band from Auckland, New Zealand, formed by former members of the acclaimed rock group The Checks. The lineup features Ed Knowles Sven Pettersen on guitar, and Chris Marshall on drums – they’re building an audience for sure and for their ninth appearance on the show, I grabbed 2023’s Out of the Night.’

Disco Drug Store - Honey You're a Jinx
Z-GR! Radio newcomer Disco Drug Store aka Martin Ahrenholz blends glam attitude, synth-pop hooks, and electro dance grooves into a really great sound – ‘Honey You’re a Jinx’ is off of the 2025 long-play album ‘See You In Disneyland’ and it’s not the only cool track on the record, so make sure you take a spin.
The Future Us - Learn To Rock and Roll
The Future Us is a Glasgow, Scotland rock band whose music blends classic rock with influences from folk, blues, soul, and even dance music. “Learn to Rock and Roll” is the standout track from their 2021 EP Fear and Progress, and is one of my favorite tracks, featuring multiple times on the show including our first episode and our Best-of Episode 50 – it’s been a long minute, and I decided that it was time it was back on the show.

The Stone Souls - Silence the Fear
The Stone Souls are an alternative rock band from the Netherlands – they’ve got an ethereal Americana flavored garage rock thing going on, and I really dig it – “Silence the Fear” was originally released as a single before becoming part of the 2024 Splinter: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.
The Space Sharks - Driving Me Sane
You should know by now that I dig me some Psychedelic rock, and back on Episode 36, I introduced you to The Space Sharks, a Baltimore, Maryland stoner rock band who bring a heavy dose of psychedelic rock, fuzz-drenched guitars, and cosmic energy to the show – For their fifth appearance on Z-GR! Radio, I grabbed ‘Driving Me Sane’ from their 2022 EP ‘The Space Sharks Fuzz Tone Psychedelic Show’ to put in your ears.
The Dead Daisies - Black Betty
Our cover this week is an early 20th-century African American work song with roots that predate commercial recordings – it’s often associated with Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter, who recorded his version in 1939, but the version of ‘Black Betty’ most people know came from Ram Jam, who transformed the track into a thunderous hard-rock anthem back in 1977. That version reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 7 in the UK.
Australia’s Dead Daisies reshaped it for a new generation, adding their own modern rock muscle while honoring the song’s long history. The roster of the Daisies is a who’s who of supporting rock players and they’ve shared stages with KISS, Aerosmith ZZ top and Lynyrd Skynyrd amongst others – they’re not an emerging artist by any definition, but this track needs to be heard.
Brock Bushong & The Still Shakes - Bye Bye Midnight Run
Austin, Texas rock band Brock Bushong & The Still Shakes have a fantastic blues-rock vibe and 2025’s “Bye Bye Midnight Run” was their first single release – Built around classic rock storytelling and blues-influenced guitars the band definitely carries an Austin vibe. I’ve had this one in my back pocket for a few weeks now, and it fits perfectly into Episode 90’s rock lineup.
The House of Jed - My Black Summer
The House of Jed is the solo project of Jarrod Gollihare, a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based musician, songwriter who is best known as the drummer, singer, and songwriter for Admiral Twin, the Tulsa power-pop band that signed with Universal Records in 1999. “My Black Summer” reflects Gollihare’s melodic songwriting style, combining alternative rock, power-pop instincts, and emotionally direct storytelling.
