Breathe of My Leaves - Love You Lately (feat. Jordan Gant) - Black Discoid Radio Mix
Breathe of My Leaves is a project by Stephano Barberis, who is known most notably for creating and winning awards for music and concert videos and Jordan Gant, who clearly has a talent for hook-filled synthpop vocals. THey’re a Z-GR! Radio favorite, and for their 6th appearance on the show, I’m reaching back to 2018 for ‘Love You Lately’ – the Black Disco Radio Mix opens things up this week.

Social Ambitions - Heaven
Social Ambitions has been around in various iterations for nearly 20 years – they’re Known for blending classic synthpop with indie pop, techno, rock and new wave to great effect, and ‘Heaven’, off of 2020’s ‘A New Frontier’ is a great showcase for their sound.
Turn Blue. - Night Souls
Originally formed in Germany in 1984, Turn Blue. spent their early years creating atmospheric gothic rock before returning more than 30 years later with a new lineup featuring founding member Mike Stoll alongside Leon Barber, Michael Miller, Marc Davids, Caterina Thomson, and Alena Van Der Hooft. From their 2025 comeback era, this is Night Souls.
Berlin Banter - Clockwork Orange
Germany’s Berlin Banter is a project by Chris Kobusch – he’s big on collaborations and has worked with several noteables including Sneaker Pimps vocalist Simonne Jones and Z-GR! Radio artist Mark Reeder. Lots of great tracks to choose from, but I decided on one of my favorites, ‘Clockwork Orange’.
Neonderthal - One Night
New to the show is Los Angeles based Neonderthal, a quartet blending electronic rock, alternative guitars, and new wave influences into a cool modern sound. With a catalog spanning more than a decade, the band adds a cool, slightly psychedelic edge to their mix of synth textures, atmospheric production, and dance-rock energy. ‘One Night’ is a deep cut off of their debut record and has some fantastic saxophone work – these guys are worth spending some time with for sure.
Olive Dares the Darkness - All Right Now
Episode One’s Olive Dares the Darkness is back on the show with ‘All, Right Now’ the standout from their first record – Based out of South Carolina, they play out fairly regularly and host a very cool show called the ‘Fairly Oddcast’ on SLE Radio, so catch them on stage or on their show when you can.

Zero-G Racetrack - I Remember
Zero-G Racetrack released ‘I Remember’, our ninth track in 2024 – it’s as close to a ballad as we’ve come, and I wrote the vocal as a reminder that every relationship, regardless of how it ends, leaves you with positives that should be remembered moving forward.

Gina Zo - I Like Men Who Like Men
I’m a sucker for fun songs that tell a fun story, especially when they have a great vocal hook and Gina Zo, the former lead singer of rock band Velvet Rouge and an advocate of the LGBTQ+ brings a playful, self-aware alt-pop track built around an unusual romantic dilemma: her attraction to men who are attracted to men. ‘I Like Men Who Like Men’ is off of her 2025 album Burn Me Into Something Better.
K. Michelle Dubois - Under Rocks
Michelle Dubois fronted the acclaimed Atlanta band Ultrababyfat, toured as part of the Warped Tour and is now a solo artist under the KMD moniker – this is her second turn on the show – she was on Episode 51 and I thought it was time to put her back in your ears with her 2026 single Under Rocks.

Stereo Starlight - Smalltown Blue
Our cover this week was the 1984 breakthrough single from British synth-pop trio Bronski Beat and the lead single from their debut album The Age of Consent. The song reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart and became an international synth-pop landmark, but more than a hit, the story of a young man’s rejection and leaving home after coming out became a defining anthem of LGBTQ+ identity and acceptance during a much less accepting era in the UK.
Independent alternative project Stereo Starlight brings the emotional weight of the original into a modern sound, with a clear reminder that it’s the piano riff that keeps the track memorable 40 plus years later.
Barbara Sonnenstrahl - Thirsty
Germany’s Barbara Sonnenstrahl is a bit of an enigma – her stuff is weird and cool and mysterious and all over the place and I think it’s all awesome – 2025’s ‘Thirsty’ closes us out this week.
