EPISODE 35 of Z-GR! Radio
January 10, 2025
From a Whisker to a Scream” is the newest Cat Temper (AKA Mike Langlie) album, and it’s awesome! Cosmic legends like Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre inspired this journey from a gentle purr to a growling crescendo.
THANK YOU for guesting on the show again, Mike!

Bec Sandridge - Stranger
I had Australia’s Bec Sandridge on Episode 10 and again on Episode 15 when I opened the show with ‘Stranger’ – the track is awesome – it took second place in the International Songwriting Competition Unsigned Category and for good reason – Bec’s been playing out and has recently moved to headlining status – she’s sold out her Sydney shows and in case you don’t know what the all fuss is about, I’m once again opening things up with ‘Stranger’ off of Bec’s 2019 album ‘Try to Save Me’.

Echoberyl - Overwater
I’ve had french darkwave duo Cecilia Dassonneville and Adriano Iacoangeli in the queue for a while now, and I figured this week was the perfect time to put them in your ears. Cecilia has a beautiful voice and she uses it to deliver haunting lyrics and melodies over Adriano’s driving synth beds that could turn any somber affair into a goth dance party.
Gloomy Rainbow - Aiming For the Night
Zero-G Racetrack - Enjoy Today
Nius X - Forever
Stockholm continues to consistently produce some of the world’s best synthpop, and Nius X is a great example. Formed in 1996, Nius X is a duo consisting of Nils Olsson on vox and Linus Kase on most everything else – they’ve got a ton of great music, and it’s worth taking the time to check them out for sure.
House of Asha - Stride
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of House of Asha – she’s been busy lately with appearances on Dust Break’s ‘Fossil’ record and has been singing and playing out with San Francisco Bay Area band Kiss & Tell. She’s got a modern and very cool Sade vibe and is not to be missed, ‘Strider’ is off of her outstanding ‘Behind Closed Doors’ EP.
Malo - The War
Episode 17’s Malo is back on the show with one of my favorite tracks, ‘The War’ – she’s been MIA on the socials and her last release was in 2022, but I keep checking back hoping to hear she’s active again.
Kelsey Kindall - Whiplash
I came across a playlist of top SF Bay Area artists and spent some time checking it out – I ended up ears on Kelsey Kindall’s ‘Whiplash’ – Kelsey’s a transplant from Hershey, Pennsylvania who has released a bunch of really great tracks and definitely earned a spot on that list.
Flight Attendant - Therapy Couch
A few weeks back, I got an email from Nashville’s Crumbsnatcher’s publicist telling me how great their latest record ‘Petsway’ is and I ended up playing ‘Saturday’, their joint with Flight Attendant on Episode 32. I knew I’d end up revisiting Flight Attendant’s excellent library and decided to do it sooner than later – ‘Therapy Couch’ got the nod.
lofthouse leo - Poptart
Lofthouse Leo is a singer/Songwriter/Composer/Producer and Performer out of Cape Town, South Africa, He’s got a long list of accomplishments and collaborators including Billy Ocean, the Late, Great, Sinead O’Connor and the Spice Girls. His latest focus is on electronica and I’m not mad about it.
Bunny X / Syntronix - Strangers Again
Bunny X is a fantastic Italo Disco duo out New York City made up of Abigail Gordon and Mary Hanley – they’re back on the show for a fifth time, and this time I’m dropping the needle on ‘Strangers Again’, their 2022 joint with Aztec Record labelmate and producer extraordinaire Syntronix.

Persha - Running Up That Hill
When HBO’s Stranger Things threw a spotlight on Kate Bush’s ‘Running Down That Hill’ I thought it was cool – the song is, after all, fantastic, but I never thought I’d hear a cover of it that does the original justice and certainly never thought i’d be playing a cover of it on the show. Then I heard french producer/singer/songwriter Persha’s take on the song, and well…I’ll let you hear for yourself why it’s this week’s cover track.
Cat Temper - Birdwatcher
Boston’s Cat Temper, AKA Mike Langelier, sent out an invite to his Bandcamp listening party for his upcoming release, ‘From A Whisker To A Scream’ and I immediately reached out to see if he’d be interested in returning for a second featured instrumentalist turn on the show. He said yes and sent the album over and it’s really cool. The record releases next week and I highly recommend it. Cat Temper’s been leaning into heavier synth-prog lately, which is evident in ‘Birdwatcher’, our closer this week.
