Abz Winter Sits Down for a Chat on NEWHD Radio’s Take 5
U.K. artist Abz Winter is a shining example of where emerging artists want to be – she’s appeared on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, performed at a bunch of cool festivals including All Points East, The Alternative Escape and Solihull Summerfest and is played on multiple radio stations including Kerrang! Radio, Reform Radio, Radio WigWam and BBC Introducing.

Z-GR! Radio Host Scot Apathy sat down with Abz in front of her first appearance on Z-GR Radio, Episode 60, to talk about her journey from Pop to Rock by way of Electro-Swing and Pop-Punk, as well as her writing process, Live Show experiences and what she’s got coming up this year.

Abz says “my music is written about my life situations, of which there have been a few… this song is written to encourage people to be sassy and confident in their own skin especially in today’s dating scene” she continues “You hook up with someone and they quickly bombard you with loads of attention, affection, gifts and stuff and then it just stops – my lyrics start ‘Way too over the top / with everything you say / I’m gonna need you to stop / this love bombing me’. Abz adds “my favourite part is probs the guitar riffs as they lead the song making it really lift and then I hit hard with my lyrics ‘You suck / ran out of love / couldn’t give a / cause you cause you cause you suck’ I love belting this out its anthemic, empowering, exciting and infectious and feel its very relatable”.
The lyrics to ‘Ran Out Of Love’ underscore Abz’ songwriting prowess and knack for creating youthful, immediately relatable and powerful music. When she adds radiant harmonies, kinetic percussion, huge guitar riffs and her soaring vocals, it’s clear that Abz has some exciting things to say and great music to bring to her fans in the near future.
